- Dress neatly and simply, such as clean pressed white and black skirt/pants (depending on your gender). Try on what you're going to wear in advance - it really helps!
- Look smart, new hair cut and smell professional.
- Make sure you reach on time, it would be great to reach sometime early as appropriate.
- Chill relax, be yourself and stay calm.
- Have a clean and brief resume.
- Let the interviewer shake your hand first.
- Shake hands firmly (not to hard, not to soft). Introduce yourself in a clear voice.
- First, act as if you are very interested in the position. Nothing is more of a turn-off than someone who has a "blah" attitude.
- Sit but DON'T cross your legs, DON'T cross your arms.
- Be Confident. Do not be nervous, just breath
and answer truthfully, managers like to see how you look on a interview,
and how
you speak. - Assume the person interviewing you is busy so get to the point.
- Be prepared to say who and what you are and where you are going.
- Smile and keep eye contact, look into their
eyes and talk to them honestly. Being friendly and personal is the best
way to
go. - It's great to just humanize yourself. Talk
positively about your family, school, ambitions, hobbies and especially
about
previous employers.. - If they ask you a question like "What
is the worst thing about yourself?" or something similar... it's
always good to take a
"good" thing and put a twist on it... like, "I can be overly organizational." Have an example ready. That way it's a "bad"
thing, but who doesn't want to hire someone organized? - Review your resume/job history - Brainstorm about other things you have done in the past and how they might tie in with the current opportunity. If you don't have too much experience, include things you learned/did at school - assignments, projects for example.
- A head of time, be prepared to answer:
1. Why you want this job
2. How would hiring YOU benefit the company
3. What assets do YOU bring to the position you are applying for. - Tell them you are a team player and don't
mind being told what to do and how to do it... all that matters is that
the job is
done and done right! - You need to show you're interested in the job too so research the place and have some background knowledge on it.
- Have fun. Job hunting is like shoe shopping. Get one that fits great and looks good!
